Welcome

Welcome to my blog. πŸ‘‹

I have a complicated medical history but bringing it down to basics I have to use a wheelchair to get myself around.

I’ve been to uni (and have the awful drunken pictures to prove it) and from there progressed into the world of work. My favourite things in the world are Formula 1, theatre and reading (and knitting but that’s a really lame hobby so if we could keep that between us that would be great, thanks).

The reason I started this blog is because as I meet new people one of the things I hear most frequently is something along the lines of this: “I went to – insert any place here – recently and I realised that there was a lot of the journey/experience that was completely inaccessible. I had no idea it was so difficult, how do you manage?”

I get such a wide range of reactions to my disability and I encounter so many difficulties that I thought – why not share them with anyone who wants to listen?

If I can make someone think twice about access for people who aren’t so able-bodied or if I just connect with someone who goes “omg, she gets it” then I consider that mission accomplished.

So, please have a read, enjoy the stories that I have to share and laugh along with them.

  1. Hello

I am very impressed with your attitude, to the way some people look at us wheelchair users, I have the same thoughts as you do, but I thought I was the only one who thought like yourself, and now at 47 I don’t bother expressing what I think, as it usually ends up in a argument, but it is refreshing to see a younger person standing up for themselves and speaking out aloud.
